What is a VUE Extended Warranty?

A Saturn VUE service contract is a promise to perform (or pay for) certain repairs of services. Most consumers call this a "Saturn VUE Extended Warranty", however a Saturn VUE service contract is not a extended warranty as defined by federal law. The separate and additional cost distinguishes a service contract from a Saturn warranty. A General Motors Protection Plan (GMPP) may be arranged at any time and always costs extra; a Saturn VUE factory warranty comes with a new Saturn VUE and is included in the original price of the vehicle.

Are you thinking about extending coverage on your VUE?

If you are purchasing a Saturn VUE, or if you already own one, you may be thinking about getting some level of extended coverage beyond the normal Saturn VUE factory warranty. Although Saturn VUE's are generally very reliable vehicles, a General Motors Protection Plan, commonly referred to as a Saturn VUE extended warranty, may provide you with extra protection to offer you the peace of mind you are looking for. GMPP for your Saturn VUE can provide coverage that goes beyond the factory warranty of your vehicle, providing years of added protection. These General Motors Protection Plans (GMPP) are accepted nationwide at all Saturn dealers, and also afford you with most of the benefits provided with a new car purchase.

VUE Extended Warranties - Alternative Provider

Many third party websites offer protection plans that they call VUE extended warranties, these too are not to be confused with a warranty. Their is only one factory backed protection plan, namely the GMPP - General Motors Protection Plan, in which is not a warranty at all, it is a service contract with a promise to perform (or pay for) mechanical breakdown. Many consumers feel more comfortable with the convenience and affordability of a factory backed protection plan. However, there are alternative VUE extended warranty providers. You should investigate your options before choosing your extended protection plan.

VUE Factory Warranty:

New Vehicle Limited Warranty on VUE vehicles registered in the U.S.A. are covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first (some GM products may have additional coverage). The complete vehicle is covered, including tires, towing to your nearest Saturn VUE dealership, and cosmetic corrosion resulting from defects. Repairs will be made to correct any vehicle defect, and most warranty repairs will be made at no charge. In addition, rust-through corrosion will be covered for 6 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first). See your Saturn VUE dealer for details.

Corrosion Protection

VUE are designed and built to resist corrosion. All body and sheet metal components are warranted against rust-through corrosion for 6 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first). Application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is not required under the corrosion coverage and none is recommended. See your Saturn VUE dealer for terms of this limited warranty.

Assembly

VUE's and their components are assembled or produced by different operating units of General Motors, its subsidiaries, or suppliers to Saturn worldwide. General Motors sometimes find it necessary to produce VUE vehicles with different or differently sourced components than originally scheduled. Since some options may be unavailable when your vehicle is assembled, General Motors suggests you verify that your VUE includes the equipment you ordered and that, if there were changes, they are acceptable to you.

Engines

VUE are equipped with engines produced by Saturn Powertrain or other suppliers to Saturn worldwide. The engines in Saturn products may also be used in other Saturn makes and models.

An Important Note About Alterations and Saturn Warranties

Installations or alterations to the original equipment vehicle (or chassis) as distributed by General Motors are not covered by the General Motors New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The special body company, assembler, equipment installer, or upfitter is solely responsible for warranties on the body or equipment and any alterations (or any effect of the alterations) to any of the parts, components, systems, or assemblies installed by Saturn. General Motors is not responsible for the safety or quality of design features, materials, or workmanship of any alterations by such suppliers.
